TAINAN—After being informed that the Divine Performing Arts would perform in Tainan, Professor Lee Delin, Dean of College of Performing and Visual Arts and Chairman of Department of Music at the National University of Tainan, placed the promotion flyers in the Department of Music and also encouraged students in his classes to attend Chinese Spectacular shows.
After seeing the Chinese Spectacular for the second time, Lee expressed that he may attend every show in the future if time allows. He said, "I felt their whole-hearted dedication for the arts.Overall speaking, whether it is music or backdrop, or performers' professionalism, I feel they have achieved the level of elegance and sophistication of Chinese arts."
He said, "The music today completely matches the story lines." He added," 'The Risen Lotus Flower' started with modern costumes and added in some classical costumes in the latter part. That kind of music is very smooth, enabling the transition from modern to classical costumes. I couldn't hear any gap in between and I think the successful transition is great."
For 'The Risen Lotus Flower' that describes that in mainland China, Falun Gong practitioners are persecuted in prisons because of their persevering belief, with one beaten to death by police, Lee said, "It is very touching to see this performance! I feel that the arrangement of programs is very compact this year, and it shows distinguishing characteristics compared with that of last year. I'm very satisfied."
Chinese Spectacular's full house audiences make Lee Delin keep exclaiming "Remarkable!" He said," There are a lot of audiences today. It is remarkable, particularly in Tainan city. Every show plays to a full house. As I saw last year and two years ago, it is not easy to have a full crowd show in Tainan city. Very exquisite and marvelous work."
