"If these types of performances come to America more often, the rotten parts of our culture; the bitterness, the grossness, and vulgarity of it, will eventually turn around. I'm convinced of it," said Henrietta Faust, Lake San Marcos resident and retired teacher of Chula Vista Elementary School District.

"We need to have the graciousness, the finesse, perfection, and the gentleness that we saw today. That pure, uplifting feeling, with something about love, forgiveness, and forbearance; it doesn't exist in most of our culture in America today."

Faust attended the Jan. 16 showing of Divine Performing Arts 2008 Chinese New Year Spectacular in San Diego at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido.

Showcasing a wide array of Chinese stories, songs, and ethnic dances; many audience members said that they were very moved by the pure beauty of the show.

"I cried so much because I was so happy," said Faust. "The singers were some of the finest I have ever heard. They were fantastic. The lyrics were marvelous, and the messages were very meaningful. We need to have public music be like this."

"I bought one of the DVDs for my grandchildren because I want them to learn how to be gracious and kind," said Faust.

"This was my New Year celebration. With that beauty and joy, I feel like flying to New York just to see it at the Radio City Music Hall." (The NTDTV Chinese New Year Splendor will be presented in 15 shows from Jan. 30 through Feb 9 in New York.)
