Norm Coleman, U.S. Senator for Minnesota

ImageThis is United States Senator Norm Coleman, extending my warmest wishes on the occasion of the Chinese New Year.

As you celebrate the most important festival in the Chinese calendar, I offer my deepest respect for the dignity and customs of the Chinese people. I salute the many remarkable contributions Chinese and Chinese-Americans have made to the United States and throughout the world, especially in my home state of Minnesota. The Chinese spirit sets a positive example for all of human-kind.  Confucius teaches:  "At home, be courteous. At work, respectful. In dealing with people, be loyal. Such must not be abandoned."

In this New Year, may we all dedicate ourselves to being kind and respectful of all peoples everywhere. And to all Chinese, wherever you may reside, I wish you much happiness and good fortune in 2007, the Year of the Pig.
