Thousands of excited patrons recently attended New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV)’s 2007 Chinese New Year Spectacular at the Eisemann Center in Dallas, Texas. The international show ran February 4 and 5, and the mayor of Dallas proclaimed the two-day event “New Tang Dynasty Television’s Chinese New Year Spectacular 2007 Days in Dallas.”
The audience was struck by the gorgeous, colorful costumes, graceful dances, spectacular sets and beautiful music contained in this breathtaking exhibition of traditional Chinese culture.
“It is fantastic, truly fantastic. Please come to Dallas again next year,” one audience member commented.
Others were quick to join in.
“It is truly spectacular. We need this kind of world-class cultural performance.”
“This is the best show I have ever seen!”
“The programs are very creative, and very professional.”
Not just amazed by the performance and professionalism, many attendees expressed that the show helped them develop a deeper understanding of the genuine, historic culture of pre-communist China.
One lady who had traveled to China before said she learned more about Chinese culture from NTDTV’s Spectacular than from first-hand experience gained during her trip.
Chinese and Western residents alike enjoyed the show, and one American couple attended with their two adopted Chinese daughters. They told us they hope their daughters could learn of their own culture, and felt that the show conveyed profound meanings and was very educational.
One Chinese woman added she felt very proud to be Chinese after watching the show.
A few Chinese patrons were asked their opinions on programs related to Falun Gong, a peaceful meditation practice persecuted by China’s communist regime. “I know little about Falun Gong,” one said. “But I know that I cannot watch such a kind of show in China. It’s free here.”
“I loved every performance. I was deeply touched by the second song, the Vows, by Jiang Ming. I know about Falun Gong through news report,” an Asian girl added. “I love Falun Gong. I’m so happy to see Falun Gong in the show today.”
“I think that the show integrates Chinese traditional performing arts and modern arts, and a little bit of the essence of Falun Gong philosophy. I feel that the show is very refreshing,” a middle-aged gentleman said.
“It is enlightening to us Chinese.”
