Hans-Gert Poettering, new President of the European Parliament

I am the President of the European Parliament. The European Parliament has 785 members from 27 European Union countries. So the members are representing almost 500 million people in the European Union.

I wish the Chinese people a very very good New Year. The Chinese people are great people in the world and my good wishes are accompanying the Chinese people in China and outside China.

And I wish the NTD Gala all the best. I hope it will be a very successful gala. All good wishes to you all.
