An interview with a NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular viewer

Many San Franciscans were fortunate enough to experience the live performance of the NTDTV 2007 Chinese New Year Spectacular at the War Memorial Opera House, which showed January 5-7. Many hearts were touched by the Spectacular's profound portrayal of traditional Chinese culture.

Dr. Patrick Hunt, a noted author and archeologist, watched the Saturday show. He was deeply moved and commented that the performance was of "the highest caliber I've seen, the most professional."

Of all the programs, Dr. Hunt said that he enjoyed the Erhu piece the best though he liked all of the pieces.

"I think that now I understand the Erhu, it brought tears to my eyes. And the string soloist was something very special. It was just beautiful. The music went straight to my soul."

Dr. Hunt is awestruck by the charm of ancient Chinese culture.

"Chinese history is the oldest in the world; the culture is so rich and deep. Sometimes the West fails to realize the great many contributions that China has given to the world."

"Nobody believed Marco Polo when he came back from China, because he described things that were beyond one's imagination. Honestly, the world should owe much gratitude to China."

In his view, every single performance should earn a standing ovation. He highly recommends the show to anyone.

"Such an elegant performance should be acclaimed by people all over the world."
