Lisa Madigan, Attorney General of the State of Illinois
Dear Friends:
As Attorney General of the State of Illinois, I am delighted to welcome you to the 2007 Chinese New Year Spectacular, where the best of Chinese music and dance come together, bringing to the life the myths, legends and beauty of the Chinese culture. In this year 4705, the Year of the Pig, the Chinese New Year is a celebrated family affair which is a time of renewal and an occasion to bring in all of the good and end all of the bad.
With the uncertainties around the world, this celebration is even more significant because of the conglomeration of ethnicities and various religious backgrounds that have come together for an evening of celebration, camaraderie and respect and appreciation for the diversity of heritages throughout our state. It is through celebrations such as this that we pass on our heritage to our children and share with others. I commend the Chicago Sound of Hope and the other community organizations and agencies for your efforts in hosting the New Year celebration and all that you do for Chinese-Americans and the State of Illinois.
To everyone of you and your families, I offer my best wishes for a joyous New Year Spectacular and "Year of the Pig".
Warm Regards,
Lisa Madigan
Attorney General
