Vancouver Show

Vancouver, Canada

In 2008, the New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) Chinese New Year Spectacular will perform during the Chinese New Year period, followed by the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular after the New Year. The two productions will welcome audiences from more than 50 major cities across four continents in their global tour. Since 2004, the tremendous worldwide popularity of the Spectacular has led to a corresponding growth in the size of its tour, from 5 cities and 7 shows  in the first year to 32 cities and 81 shows in 2007.

The Chinese New Year Spectacular, which uses the expression of Chinese classical dance, showcases the authentic traditional Chinese culture without any communist party culture. Through background scenery, costumes, and dance movements, the Spectacular expresses pure truthfulness, pure compassion, and pure beauty. The music represents the first successful blending of Western orchestral instruments with traditional Chinese instruments. It expresses in a complete and harmonious fashion the joy of heavenly music inspired by gods, and captures the true spirit of ancient Chinese divine culture. The history of China comes to life in this gorgeous performance that is at once entertaining, inspiring, and uplifting. All program content is presented in both Chinese and English.

"Usually we hear about song and dance multiculturalism, but it’s usually not very deep and not very profound. But here tonight it was the most extraordinary cultural show I've ever seen and experienced...The nation’s capital is not an ordinary city anymore, but a top-class and world-class city, thanks to the Chinese New Year experience."

-Professor Cyril Dabydeen (award-winning writer and poet, University of Ottawa) at the January 2007 show in Ottawa

"Spectacular, riveting, really enjoying it- quite wonderful... Really quite intriguing and beautiful to watch...I've been to China- Beijing- but I've never been treated to this level of sophisticated entertainment."
