Dear Friends:

On behalf o the Detroit City Council I would like to welcome everyone attending Detroit's debut of the Chinese New Year Spectacular.

It's an honor that Detroit has been chosen to host the 2008 Lunar New Year which will bring men and woman of Asian descent all over the world together to celebrate 5,000 years of their culture. I am grateful to the Oriental Culture Association (OCA) of Michigan for recognizing the Detroit Opera House as a worthwhile venue for this extravaganza. We always welcome the opportunity to showcase Detroit's diversity to the rest of the world.

As President of the City Council I would like to thank everyone who has come out to support this event. I have no doubt that this will be a memorable experience for all who have chosen to attend. It is my hope that everyone will have a prosperous and successful new year.
