Reviving Ancient Chinese Culture and Divine Grace

New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) is the producer of the Divine Performing Arts Troupe's Holiday Wonders and Chinese New Year Spectacular. According to Mr. Li Zhong, the President of NTDTV, the Divine Performing Arts Troupe will present world-class performances again in its 2008 performances and this year's new program will bring new surprises to the anticipative audiences.

According to Li Zhong, the essence of traditional Chinese culture, such as respect for Heaven, virtue, morality and sincerity, are gradually becoming extinct today. When the Divine Performing Arts Troupe tours around the world, it will revive the long-forgotten divine traditional Chinese culture on stage.

The Divine Performing Arts Troupe traditionally begins its performances of Holiday Wonders and Chinese New Year Spectacular every year. Holiday Wonders is featured during the Christmas holidays and the Chinese New Year Spectacular will be featured in the spring of the following year.

According to the information provided by the Divine Performing Arts Troupe, this year's shows features dances inspired by ancient Chinese mythology and Chinese ethnic folk dances. The show also features classical Chinese vocal performances, instrumental music and classical Chinese dance. The Divine Performing Arts Troupe intends to deliver a pure, sincere and kind world. The combination of the beautifully designed scenes, music, and dance will deliver the essence of traditional Chinese divine culture.

Live Classical Orchestra

The Divine Performing Arts Troupe's live orchestra is another feature of the show. The live orchestra features classical Western musical instruments, as well as traditional Chinese instruments. The live music, therefore, combines the best of Western and Chinese musical instruments.

The orchestra features classical musicians from acclaimed classical orchestras in the United States, North American musicians originally from Taiwan and China, and top-class musicians from China. They are Falun Gong practitioners who conduct themselves according to Falun Gong's cultivation principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. They strive to create new arts with a pure heart and an altruistic spirit.

Touring over 60 Cities Around the World

According to Li Zhong, the Divine Performing Arts Troupe was very successful in its 2007 global tour. The troupe toured to the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand and reached over 200,000 in attendance worldwide.

"We have received a lot of feedback from last year's audiences around the world that they are anticipating the Divine Performing Arts Troupe's arrival this year. In response to the overwhelming demand, the Divine Performing Arts Troupe will increase its performances and tour to over 60 cities around the world. This year there will be over 150 artists in its cast. It can reach an estimated 650,000 attendees this year.

"In New York City alone, the Chinese New Year Spectacular will showcase 15 performances in New York City's Radio City from January 30 to February 9, 2008. There are over 5,000 seats for each performance. It can potentially reach an estimated 75,000 people."

A Brand New Program and a Brand New Surprise

"In 2007 and 2008 the Divine Performing Arts Troupe will present world-class performances again and brand new programs," said Li Zhong. "We will feature a brand new program every year that is inspired by China's 5,000 years of traditional culture. This year's program will be even better than last year. We are confident to bring the audience a brand new surprise."

This year the Divine Performing Arts Troupe adds classical ballet and brass instruments in the Holiday Wonders shows for Western audiences, Li explained.

Bring People to Return to Traditional Arts

Last year's tour of the Troupe amazed many audiences. That means the show is starting a renaissance of arts. Currently many performing arts around the world are no match to traditional arts in many aspects including the techniques, contents, and the impact on people. The Troupe presents traditional culture with traditional techniques and contents on international stages and has great influence on both Western and Chinese society, Li continued.

Li also added that many audiences shed tears in the Troupe's past performances. The purity, righteousness, kindness, and beauty of the content and marvelous artistic effects brought out people's yearning for beauty from the bottom of their hearts. People's traditional values echo with their lives'.

The Divine Performing Arts Troupe

Based on the Troupe's website (http://shenyun.us/gb/), in ancient times, China was called Shenzhou (the divine land), a land that was protected by God. Chinese culture is called the divine culture because in the past, people believed in God and people coexisted on the divine land. Chinese culture encompasses respect for heaven, valuing good deeds, and virtue.

Unfortunately the beautiful culture was trampled during the past 50 years with the Great Culture Revolution promoted by the Chinese Communist Party and the essence of art from the past five thousand years was almost extinguished.

The Divine Performing Arts Troupe was established to inherit and create traditional arts for human kind and represent the essence of the divine arts of the East. The arts praise the beauty of life, the firm belief in God, and spread the respect and appreciation of God.

The dances are elegant, pure and delightful. All creations and programs are based on traditional divine culture. The shows trace back the five thousand years of culture and bring out the content and divine aspect of ancient culture.
