Chinese New Year Spectacular
Whereas, the City of Lakewood is building an inclusive community; and
Whereas, the Chinese New Year Spectacular, produced by New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV), is coming to Colorado for the first time, at the Buell Theater in Denver January 11 and 12, 2008; and
Whereas, the Spectacular is intended to showcase true Chinese traditional culture in a visually rich experience of costumes, choreography, scenery, and Western and traditional Chinese musical instruments; and
Whereas, in addition to Colorado, the 2008 Spectacular tour is expected to reach audiences in 61 cities on four continents, supporting NTDTV’s mission to foster understanding between Chinese and Western societies; and
Whereas, people of Chinese heritage comprise one of the fastest growing ethnic groups, with more than three million people living in the United States, including in Lakewood;
NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the City Council and the people of Lakewood, I, Bob Murphy, Mayor of the City of Lakewood, by virtue of the authority vested in me, do hereby proclaim congratulations and appreciation for
