It is with great pleasure that I extend my warmest greetings to everyone attending the Chinese New Year Spectacular hosted by New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV).

New Year celebrations provide an ideal opportunity to reminisce on past achievements; they also give us the chance to prepare to tackle the upcoming challenges and take full advantage of new opportunities. It is also a time to take delight in ancient cultural traditions, while looking forward to a future filled with peace, hope and happiness.

This evening, as you enjoy this magnificent showcase of colorful costumes, beautiful music and graceful dancing, you may take pride in the many contributions Chinese Canadians have made to our great country. The organizers, NTDTV, must be commended for their efforts in bringing this wonderful display of traditional Chinese culture to audiences in Canada.

On behalf of the Government of Canada, please accept my best wishes for a most memorable event, as well as for a joyful, healthy and prosperous Year of the Boar.
