SEOUL, Korea—Liu Mengmeng, a former branch secretary of the Chinese Communist Youth League, had high praise for the Chinese Spectacular after attending the opening show in Seoul on Friday night.

"The performance is very exciting. You feel the energy of righteousness and beauty. Everyone in China should see it."

Liu is originally from the northeast of China. She learned about the Chinese Spectacular two years ago from an article in the Chinese Epoch Times in South Korea.

At that time she had hoped to go to the United States to see the show. But when she realized the Divine Performing Arts was bringing the Spectacular to South Korea, she bought a ticket to the Seoul premiere.

Speaking about the difference between the Spectacular and shows seen in China, Liu said the Spectacular has more depth.

"Shows in mainland China are typically an assortment of things with no essence. It does not deliver anything meaningful. Whereas the Divine Performing Arts production brings the energy which you couldn't quite explain — it feels right, and it's beautiful."

She felt people from Mainland China should see the dance, The Risen Lotus Flower.

"Falun Dafa is righteous, and good for the society and the people. Why should the oppression or repression exist?

"This piece speaks to Mainlanders' heart. Our tradition and culture no longer exist. The Chinese Communist Party has caused such chaos in our country. The suppression and attacking of the Falun Gong practitioners is especially groundless. People dare not to say anything, but hold it inside. This dance explicitly expresses what people really feel."

Falun Gong, also called Falun Dafa, is a meditation practice and spiritual discipline that has been banned in China and its followers severely persecuted by the Chinese regime.
