Illinois House Resolution (2008)

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to honor the 2008 Chinese New Year Spectacular, held at the Arie Crown Theatre in Chicago on January 25 and 26, 2008; and

WHEREAS, The Chinese New Year is the most colorful and important of China's fetes and the Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Singaporean peoples celebrate their ancient traditions through family reunions and performing arts; and WHEREAS, The 2008 Chinese New Year Spectacular will span over 60 major cities in Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America, with an expected attendance of 500,000 people worldwide; and
 
WHEREAS, The 2008 Chinese New Year Spectacular in Chicago aims to be a showcase of traditional Chinese culture, a platform for cross-cultural understanding between the East and West, and a unifying event for all people interested in Chinese culture; and

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois wish to honor the Chinese New Year Spectacular being held at Auditorium Theatre in Chicago on March 3, 2007; and

WHEREAS, The Chinese New Year is the most colorful and important of China's fetes and the Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Singaporean celebrate their ancient traditions through family reunions and performing arts; and

WHEREAS, on Saturday, March 3, 2007, the Chinese New Year Spectacular Organizing Committee in Chicago will celebrate their 2nd annual Chinese New Year Celebration; and

WHEREAS, the Chinese New Year is the most colorful and important of China's fetes and the Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Japanese celebrate their ancient tradition through family reunion and performing arts; and

WHEREAS, according to U.S. Census 2004, the State of Illinois has over 800,000 ethnic Chinese; and
